moreWINE GROWING AREA
The Lagrein vines, some of which are over 50 years old, grow in the best locations with sandy and gravelly soils. At an altitude of 220-350 metres above sea level, in Bozen and Auer, the climatic conditions are ideal for the ripening of the Lagrein grapes.
HARVEST AND YIELD
The Lagrein grapes, harvested by hand with great care, are harvested in their ideal state of ripeness in several harvesting rounds at mid-end October with a yield of 50 hectolitres of wine per hectare.

After a short maceration period, the selected grapes are fermented at a constant temperature of 28°C. This wine then matures for 18 months in French barrique barrels.

closeDATUS South Tyrolean Pinot Noir Riserva DOC 2018
WINE DESCRIPTION
An extremely multifaceted and balanced Pinot Noir that shines in a rich, ruby-red. The intensive ageing in wood gives the DATUS its velvety, spicy-peppery wood notes. Its depth and complexity and the aroma of ripe red fruits and sour cherries make the DATUS a very special pleasure, of which there are only 650 bottles.
moreWINE GROWING AREA
The best conditions for the ripening of Pinot Noir grapes are found on the steep slopes in the municipality of Montan, in the southwest-facing sunny area of the Glen fraction. At an altitude of 400-600 metres above sea level, the gravelly clay soil provides the ideal conditions for the vines, grown on wire frames, to flourish.
HARVEST AND YIELD
The grapes for this Pinot Noir were harvested on 22 September 2018. The result was 650 numbered bottles.
VINIFICATION
Fermentation with the stems. Ageing in new barriques.
HISTORY
Our DATUS was literally "given" to us by fate. What began as a nocturnal accident turned out to be one of the greatest strokes of luck in the history of our winery. It was around two in the morning and we were processing our best Pinot Noir. That's when it happened: the V-belt of the destemmer broke. Hectic broke out and we were close to despair. Then we plucked up courage: if fate had its way, we would trust in it. We made the courageous decision to cellar the noble grapes together with the stems.
RECOMMENDATION
Excellent with strong starters, red meats, game and medium mature cheeses.
"DATUS - The Predestined
Born of providence, it impresses with its richness of facets and great balance. Its velvety, spicy-peppery wood notes make it a favourite for special moments.
