The popular wine Kalterersee is one of the most famous products of the wine-growing area in the heart of South Tyrol. This light wine is made from another indigenous grape variety, the Vernatsch grape. It is highly esteemed locally and is one of the most popular wines in South Tyrol.
The permeable and mineral-rich moraine soils, along with the sandy, calcareous gravel at elevations of 300 to 450 meters above sea level, provide ideal conditions for producing excellent, fresh white wines.
