Kaltern: Not just a small gem by the lake,

but also one of the most important wine-growing areas in South Tyrol!

7,500 residents, 757 hectares of vineyards and vines, orchards and forests as far as the eye can see: Kaltern is one of the most important wine-growing areas in South Tyrol/Italy. Moreover, it captivates visitors from near and far with its Mediterranean way of life, unique landscape, and the warmest Alpine Lake for swimming!

The popular wine Kalterersee is one of the most famous products of the wine-growing area in the heart of South Tyrol. This light wine is made from another autochthonous grape variety, the Vernatsch grape. A typical Go-to-wine and not for nothing one of the most popular wines in South Tyrol.

The permeable and mineral-rich moraine soils, along with the sandy, calcareous gravel at elevations of 300 to 450 meters above sea level, provide ideal conditions for producing excellent, fresh white wines.

Kaltern hosts (wine) events too!

The Wine Hike Day in April. "Kaltern - All in White" or "Kaltern - All in Red" in early summer. The Wine Days in September. The Kaltern Wine Culinarium in October. There's something going on in Kaltern almost all year round!
